Waterjet Cutting

Waterjet cutting is commonly used to produce two-dimensional gaskets from thicker and/or tougher materials. It is beneficial in a variety of scenarios, depending on the quantity of parts produced, the material utilised, the intricacy of your design, and the speed with which you need the components supplied. EMI Seals and Gaskets Ltd uses the most advanced technology available to cut nearly any product to accurate specifications utilising the power of Waterjet Cutting.

Water Jet Cutting Process and the technology behind it

Water jet cutting is a method of cutting through a variety of materials, including metal, plastic, rubber, and composites, using a high-pressure jet of water. A high-pressure pump pressurises water from 60,000 to 90,000 psi before passing it through a tiny aperture, generating an ultra fine, high-velocity jet of water.
The precision and accuracy of this technology are attributable to the employment of high-resolution cameras, sensors, and other advanced technologies that ensure the water jet follows the set course.
Since the water jet is so strong, it can cut through dense materials with exceptional precision while leaving a smooth and burr-free edge. This is accomplished by guiding the water jet with the use of a computer-aided design (CAD) tool that maps out the material’s cutting route.

Revolutionizing the EV Industry with next generation materials and designs: A Closer Look at the Different Types of Gaskets Designed for Electric Vehicles

In 2022, 1 in 10 of new cars sold worldwide was an Electric Vehicle (EV), that’s 7.8 million vehicles. The forecast for 2023 is an increase to 10 million EV Vehicles worldwide, that would represent 14% of the global market.

The rush to capitalise on this rapidly growing market means that there is a big change in technological understanding of not just the vehicles themselves, but the required infrastructure needed to power this change. The technology underlying EVs is sophisticated and needs a number of specialised components in order to perform effectively. The Seals, Gaskets, and Shielding products used in these vehicles and associated infrastructure are critical in ensuring that these different systems work correctly and effectively. Reverse engineering seals and gaskets

Reverse Engineering Seals and Gaskets

Any well-equipped and structured company can fabricate components with established design documentation, but what happens if a company requests a part for which there is no design history?

What choices are available to you if you don’t have the required documentation? Design documentation may be difficult to locate, gone missing, damaged, unfinished, or somehow non-existent.

These outdated, old parts can still be regenerated for a new use even while their design documentation is discarded. While it may appear straightforward to re-engineer such parts, doing so properly and consistently might involve a number of challenges.

Remarkably, we can reduce a process that used to take days to just a few hours thanks to our technical knowledge, and extensive experience. Continue reading “Reverse Engineering Seals and Gaskets”
